Classes

Earrings from the Basic Earring Class
Classes are held every Saturday at 11:00am. The cost is $10 per class plus the cost of materials and no registration is required. Tools are provided so just bring yourself and get ready to have a good time! Classes generally last around an hour, however, because there is time during the class to design a piece of jewelry, the classes can occasionally run a bit long.
*If for some reason you are unable to attend a class on Saturday we are happy to schedule a private class at a time that is convenient for you. The cost is the same $10 as for the Saturday classes.
November Schedule
Saturday November 5, 2011 (11:00 am)-Basic Stringing Class: If you are a new beader this is a great place to start! You will learn how to create a necklace, bracelet or anklet. In this class we will focus on what tools are needed, what stringing material to use and how to properly attach a clasp.
Saturday November 12, 2011 (11:00 am)-Basic Earring Class: Another great class for those who are looking to get started with beading! You will learn how to design and assemble a pair of dangle earrings, including what tools and parts are needed.
Saturday November 19, 2011 (11:00 am)-Basic Stringing Class: If you are a new beader this is a great place to start! You will learn how to create a necklace, bracelet or anklet. In this class we will focus on what tools are needed, what stringing material to use and how to properly attach a clasp. We're holding this class twice in the month of November since we have such a strong demand for it around the holidays, plus we just really love teaching it!
Saturday November 26, 2011 (11:00 am)-Basic Wire-Wrapping Class: We've had quite a few calls for this class recently and so we're bringing back an old favorite this month. In this class you will learn how to wire-wrap a drilled bead or pendant! This technique is one of those techniques that you will use constantly as a jewelry maker. You will learn how to interrupt chain with beads, link beads and wire-wrap a pendant. This technique is extremely useful and just downright fun! This technique can get you out of a bind if you have a bead with a hole in the wrong direction or with a hole that is too small for your intentions. Chain is very popular this fall and this class will give you the skills that you will need to be able to work it into your design.

In this class we will learn and practice the basic crimping technique as well as the methods used to fasten ends to leather. This technique turns any design casual and adds a very unique, organic flair to the finished design. In addition, for those out there who may not care as much for a fully beaded necklace, this technique offers a more modern alternative. See pictures below.
Saturday December 24, 2011-Because this is Christmas Eve we do not have any class on the schedule for this Saturday.
Saturday December 31, 2011 (11:00 am)-Rosary Class: In honor of the season we are pleased to offer a class in how to construct and assemble your very own Rosary. This class will focus on the tools, supplies and techniques needed to create your own Rosary. We will discuss the counts and beads of the Rosary during the designing process as well. Within the hour long class you will master the techniques involved in Rosary construction, however you may not actually complete the piece in an hour. You are welcome to continue working in the shop to finish or finish at home. As with anything making your own, personalized Rosary makes the piece that much more significant. This would make a beautiful gift for a loved one or just a rewarding piece for you to treasure for years to come. Pick your own colors and stones to make the piece more suited to your life and style.

Saturday January 21, 2012 (11:00 am)-Learning How to Hand-Knot Pearls and Stones: This class will be limited to 4 people, and we will require registration. The cost of this class will be $20 and we will ask that you bring your own knotting tool. Hand-knotting is a very old technique that can turn any strand of beads into a true work of art! It is traditionally used with pearls so that if the strand breaks you only lose one bead. The cost of this class will include a neutral silk to use with your beads (although you are welcome to bring your own). We will provide the needles and all of the materials, however we do ask that you bring your own knotting tool. These can be purchased for around $20-$25 at A.C. Moore or any other craft store. This link will direct you to a good picture/description of what the tool looks like. http://www.acmoore.com/p-32729-knotter-tool-.aspx If you have a knotted necklace lying around your house that needs to be repaired or even if you're just interested in becoming a more advanced beader this class is a fantastic deal. To register please call the shop at 540-344-9586.
